Kelly Stevenson, British Airways’ Wine and Beverage Manager, says “There’s no better, or more British way to toast our milestone year than with an English Sparkling Wine. We’ve loved working with Hattingley Valley to create something really special for our First customers and this will be the first time we have ever served an English Sparkling Blanc de Noirs on board.”

This Blanc de Noirs is a harmonious blend, predominately of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. The grapes were hand-harvested and gently pressed. The juice was fermented in stainless steel tanks at cool temperatures to preserve its bright fruit characters, with 5% being fermented in old white Burgundy barrels. Partial malolactic fermentation took place to provide a round and creamy texture. After 3 years on lees in bottle, the wine was riddled and disgorged with 8g/L dosage.

At 36,000 feet whilst enjoying canapés seated in the luxury of a British Airways First Class cabin. On the ground we recommend pairing the wine with pork rillettes on sourdough toast.

Gold in colour with a subtle green hue and persistent soft mousse, the nose has a delicate red fruit character with a hint of summer pudding and freshly risen sourdough. On the palate, the crisp acidity is balanced with red fruit flavours, creaminess and a toasty savoury quality.
