2013 was a wonderful year for Chardonnay. The growing season started with exceptionally cold weather for April and May but we experienced gloriously hot weather in July which brought in successful flowering and a very healthy fruit set. These favourable conditions allowed the fruit to fly through veraison and ripen nicely, achieving good sugar levels. Harvest started on 02 October and ended on 05 November. This Blanc de Blancs is showing beautifully now and has great potential to age for much longer.


Delicious with Hampshire hot smoked trout pate, local salami and charcuterie.


The Chardonnay grapes were handpicked and gently whole-bunch pressed. The juice was fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks with a small proportion (7%) barrel-fermented in an old oak barrels. A full malolatic fermentation was carried out for this vintage to give roundness to balance the crisp acidity. Four years ageing on its lees in bottle adds a wonderful complexity and depth to this wine, before being disgorged with 6g/L dosage and a minimum of five months on cork before release.

Pale golden colour with gentle green hues and delicate bubbles, this Blanc de Blancs displays beautifully the pure linear character of the Chardonnay - white stone fruit, citrus fruit and a delicious honeyed character on the nose; clean and mineral flavours with pastry and brioche notes on the palate. It has a well balanced and refreshing acidity that gives way to a creamy mouthfeel and long, complex finish.
