Hampshire produced, internationally celebrated, award winning English sparkling wine.

Hattingley Valley is a dynamic family owned vineyard and winery located in Hampshire specialising in top quality English fizz.

It’s the innovate and passionate team at Hattingley Valley that helps create a truly unique range of English quality sparkling wines.  Our traditional method sparkling wines made from grapes grown on chalk soils deliver a quintessentially English countryside vibrancy that is created for your enjoyment. Our subtle use of oak barrels to ferment a small proportion of the wines helps soften the wines before they go into bottle for secondary fermentation.

Meet our friendly team at events throughout the year to taste and catch up on the latest news.

Hattingley Valley is owned by Simon Robinson who is also the Chairman of industry body, Wines of Great Britain, and encourages his staff to build their wine knowledge and education both here and overseas in other wine regions.  Our vineyard team manages over 24 hectares (60 acres) of vines across two well-situated sites.  We also receive grapes from selected vineyards across Southern England.  Our talented wine making team is led by Emma Rice who trained at Plumpton College and awarded UK Winemaker of the Year in both 2014 and 2016. The team prides itself in the quality of its work and outstanding end product.

I feel I have been very privileged to enjoy a wonderful journey during this formative phase of the English wine industry. Even if we have an interesting variety of joys and challenges courtesy of our rather unpredictable weather, I was always certain that our British chalky soils would produce top quality, delicious wines with a wonderfully distinct style.
— Simon Robinson Hattingley’s founder, who has always wanted to make something that was quintessentially British.

Since launching its first release in August 2013, Hattingley Valley has developed into one of the most respected producers of English sparkling wines in the country. Our wines have been recognised in competitions across the globe and was awarded the ‘World Champion’ trophy for its 2011 Blanc de Blancs in the Champagne and Sparkling Wine World Championships 2017. This is an exciting addition to the trophy cabinet which includes ‘Best Vintage Rosé’ awarded to the 2011 vintage, Hattingley’s first release of this style, by the same competition in 2014.

The recognition for our wines is indicative of our brilliant team and their hardwork. We are proud to partner with prestigious retailers, bars and restaurants both here in the UK and internationally. Most recently we are delighted to partner with British Airways in their centenary year to create a limited edition English sparkling Blanc de Noirs that will be served in British Airways’ First Class lounge and on-board in First Class.

Simon was entranced when he heard a radio programme in 2000, on the rapidly developing English wine scene. After much thought and analysis in May 2008 his Hattingley adventure began. He had already commissioned a survey of flora and fauna on his farm in Hampshire, which lead to the discovery that the Silverwashed Fritillary Butterfly, common in Europe but rare in Britain, was a summer resident. The delicate eco-system in this part of Hampshire was enhanced by his planting of around seven miles of hedgerow under a countryside stewardship scheme. The presence of such an iconic butterfly meant that the Silverwashed Fritillary butterfly seemed a natural choice to weave into Hattingley’s brand identity.
